Privacy Policy for Video Mediet Utility Lab

About this policy

This policy describes the data practices supported by the current Video Mediet Utility Lab application and its supplied Store listing.

Data access and local storage

Video Mediet Utility Lab lets you select videos through Android’s system document picker. It accesses the files you select using the permissions you grant. The app requests continued read access so that imported videos and saved projects can be reopened later. It does not request broad access to your media library, camera, microphone, contacts, or location in the inspected source.

The app reads selected video and audio content for playback and editing. It also reads file names, file locations or document identifiers, file sizes, duration, dimensions, media types, frame-rate information when available, and media track details.

The app stores imported-library entries, selected-video information, edit settings, project names, project identifiers, modification dates, export records, and interrupted-export status in local app storage. Completed videos and JPEG images are saved as separate files in the app’s private storage. Editing leaves the source video unchanged.

Purposes

This information supports video previews, trimming, rotation, audio removal, compression, frame and thumbnail extraction, video information displays, library search and sorting, saved projects, and management of exported files. Saved settings allow you to resume work after reopening the app.

Collection and transmission

The inspected media-editing implementation processes videos on your device. It does not upload media, project information, or edit settings to a developer-operated server. No account registration, analytics reporting, remote crash-reporting service, or advertising SDK was identified in the inspected source and declared dependencies.

The app writes some processing and file-access errors to Android’s system logs. No code that transmits these logs to the developer was identified.

Network access and external services

The Android app declares Internet permission and provides a Terms & Privacy link that opens an external browser. Its Android host also contains a WebView capable of loading a configured policy page, although the inspected startup path opens the editor. Opening a web page can cause the browser or WebView to exchange ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, with the destination. The inspected application does not establish that destination’s data practices.

The Android manifest also declares advertising-ID permission. No code accessing the advertising ID, displaying advertisements, or sending advertising data was identified. The permission alone does not establish that advertising data is collected.

Sharing and third-party components

The inspected source does not automatically share your media or project data with the developer or an advertising or analytics provider.

When you choose Open or Share for an export, the app grants the receiving application read access to that file. The receiving application handles it under its own privacy practices. When you choose Save to Device, the app writes a copy to the location you select. A document provider or destination you choose may use cloud storage and handle the file under its own terms and settings.

The app uses Android and AndroidX components, including Media3 for media processing, along with Jetpack Compose and Kotlin libraries. No separate third-party analytics, advertising, or remote data-collection SDK was identified among the declared dependencies.

Android backup

The app allows Android backup. Depending on your device, operating-system behavior, and backup settings, locally stored app information and files may be included in system-managed backup or restoration. These operations are controlled by Android and your backup provider; the inspected source does not define their retention periods.

Security

The app uses Android’s private app storage for settings and exported files. Its file-sharing provider is not publicly exported and grants file access through Android permissions when you open or share an export. Source documents are accessed through the system permissions you grant.

No additional app-level encryption of stored files was identified. Media editing does not require transmission to a developer server, and the available evidence does not establish encryption practices for external applications, document providers, web destinations, or system backups. No storage or security measure can guarantee complete protection.

Retention

Library records, saved projects, settings, and completed exports remain locally stored until removed or the app’s local data is cleared. There is no scheduled retention period in the inspected source. The app attempts to remove unfinished output files when processing is canceled or fails, and removes leftover partial exports during initialization.

Source videos remain in their original locations. Copies saved elsewhere, shared files, and system backups follow the retention practices of their respective locations or providers.

Deletion and your controls

You can remove a library entry, delete a saved project, and delete an exported file through the app. Removing a library entry does not delete the original video and does not necessarily remove references retained in saved projects or the current selection. Deleting a project removes that project record; it does not delete its source video or completed exports.

You can clear the app’s storage through Android settings or uninstall it to remove its local app data, subject to Android’s backup and restoration behavior. Manage original videos and copies saved outside the app through the relevant file manager or storage provider. Deleting an export inside the app does not delete copies already saved or shared elsewhere.

No in-app account-deletion or server-data-deletion request feature was identified, and no developer-held media repository was identified. The developer cannot remove copies held independently by recipients or storage providers through the app’s deletion controls.

Children’s privacy

The supplied information does not specify an intended age group or a child-directed audience. No age-verification, parental-consent, or child-specific data-handling feature was identified. The local processing and sharing practices described in this policy apply to anyone using the app.

Changes to this policy

This policy should be updated when the app’s features or data practices change. The inspected source does not establish a separate notification mechanism for policy changes. Review the policy made available with the version of the app you use.
